Do you just love the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? Or perhaps you are paralyzed by the reality that you are a chocoholic: a person who craves or compulsively consumes chocolate. Regardless of your preference for movies or chocolate, it’s about time you go meet the real life “Lady Wonka” of Manhattan. You will be pleasantly surprised because this chocolatier is not a creepy man with the signature purple top hat and cane, but rather a sexy and spunky talented young woman! Head down to the lower eastside and be mesmerized by the magic of making scrumptious chocolate with the hottest chocolatier on the island – Aditi Malhotra. Aditi, a Forbes 30 under 30 recipient, NY Times and Wallstreet Journal featured superstar, makes the world of sweets just a little bit sweeter.
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of doing a private chocolate making class with my best friend at Tache Artisan Chocolate. Located on the lower eastside, Tache is a cutesy shop that sells incredibly delicious treats and also specializes in private lessons or parties for learning the art of making chocolate. This post shares our personal Ladyhattan images and experience at Tache. See below for more details and glimpses of such sweet fun!
Want chocolate lips like these? How fabulous, right!? The perfect favor for a bridal shower or bachelorette party. Our new favorite lady expert of chocolates, Aditi, taught us how to make these ourselves!
Here is the chocolatier herself, showing us the big machines!
Designing whatever shapes we want with the chocolate! After the chocolate is placed, you can add various toppings and spices. Everything from coco puffs to curry or sea salt!
The chocolate shapes mixed with the desired toppings just sit on the wax paper and dry into a hard mold that is ready to enjoy.
Here goes our lady, Ali, mixing the chocolate bark. It’s a combination of rich Belgium chocolate and smashed pretzels.
We wanted to make those chocolate lips! Aditi had us use her special chocolate molds. We first sprinkled the inside of the mold with the desired edible glitter – any color you can imagine – pink, purple, blue and gold! From there, we used the chocolate machine to fill the molds.
When I saw the shoe mold… well… what can I say, similar to impulses at Louboutin, I just could not resist! What gal doesn’t love some chocolate shoes! Two for one! Chocolate and shoes!
Ali made baby feet as a gift for her sister-in-law who just had a baby boy! Congrats! What a great baby shower idea – little chocolate feet!
And as we made our way back up through the Tache shop, we enjoyed all the goodies available for sale – great gift or favor ideas. Look how beautiful the detail and decoration of these fine sweets are!
Intrigued by this decadent experience? Learn more by visiting the Tache Artisan Chocolate Shop and book a private lesson with the shop owner, Aditi. Whether it’s with a close girlfriend or you need to throw a small party, Aditi specializes in it all! She has done everything from birthday parties to bachelor parties — everyone loves making chocolate, playing with chocolate, and of course, eating the final chocolate goods! As we walked out of our wonderful lesson, we left the shop with a beautiful basket of all the chocolates we created with Aditi’s help! The staff was so kind and thoughtful — they took the time to individually wrap our chocolates into small gift favors. I had so many chocolates from the class, over 50, that I actually used them for one of my graduation parties – they were a total hit!
A big thanks to Tache Artisan Chocolate and my new favorite lady chocolatier, Aditi.
